The History

The history of Lobitos is centered on the oil industry, which transformed it into a modern Victorian-style camp in the early 20th century. Before this, its roots lay in fishing, from which its name is also derived, due to the presence of sea lions. Although oil production declined, Lobitos remains a historic place with a rich cultural heritage, known today as a tourist destination for its surfing and natural beauty.
